1. Nordic Combined
First Appearance: 1924
Part of the games in Chamonix Mont-Blanc, France. Combines ski jumping and cross-country skiing.

2. Bobsleigh
First Appearance: 1924
Compete in a team to get to the bottom first on a gravity-powered sled speeding through narrow, winding and iced tracks.

3. Skeleton
First Appearance: 1928
Dates back to the 1880s. Racing head-first down a steep icy track on a tiny sled.

4. Biathlon
First Appearance: 1960
Cross-country skiing combined with precision shooting at a specified target.

5. Curling
First Appearance: 1924
Teams of four compete to push a 44-pound granite stone across the ice with brush and bristle brooms to a targeted area.
